Lyckoshellans kennel

Lyckoshellans Kennel is owned by us, Birgitta and Ingvar. We have two sons. The oldest one is Christian and has moved out from home a while ago. The youngest is Linus, borne -88. He still lives at home of course.

Lyckoshellans Kennel is situated in Motala in Sweden. It is a small city just beside lake Vättern. Motala is mainly known for the giant bicycle race around lake Vättern and the start and finish line is placed just here.

All of us have a great dog interest but it is Linus and myself, Birgitta, who are most active. Linus takes part in Agility competitions and hold courses where he trains other less experienced people as well. He is trained and certified by SBK.

I compete in Dog Obedience as well as participate in Dog Shows. We both are of course eager supporters when Linus is in action at the agility course.

Our interest in dogs started many years ago when we bought an American Cocker Spaniel. Next dog was a Schaefer and by that time my interest for Dog Obedience started.

After some years without dogs we started search for a new breed that would fit our family even better. We found out that a quite small sized dog, nice, easy to learn and willing to work with us would be best. The Shetland Sheepdog. They possess all these qualities and many more. They are furthermore alert and very beautiful. After we had bought the first Sheltie we realized it fulfilled all our requirements and our great interest in Dog Shows and Agility really took off.

If you have once got a Sheltie it is easy to source more of this wonderful breed. Now no other breed exists for us. The Sheltie’s got it all !

Our objective is to breed both physically and mentally, fresh and sound, nice Shelties that are beautiful as well. Of course according to the breeding standard.

Since we are very active with our dogs the mentality is very important and we do not want to have nervous or scared Shelties.

Our dogs must be happy dogs.
